Loic Le Meur: Larry Page about Twitter

  • Peter Urban · 7 months ago
It's good that someone keeps Google on it's toes.
  • Laurent Jourdan · 7 months ago
obviously grammar isn't keeping you on your's
  • David Sarno · 7 months ago
Any chance you have video or audio of this?
  • Loic Lemeur · 7 months ago
Unfortunately not but I tried to quote accurately
  • pe7er · 7 months ago
Do you think that Larry could have told that story within 140 characters? ;-)
  • Rex Pechler · 7 months ago
"I have always thought we needed to index the web every second to allow real time search. At first, my team laughed and did not believe me. With Twitter, now they know they have to do it."
    187 Characters... kinda close =/
  • Bertil · 7 months ago
'I always wanted real-time search; Googlers wouldn't agree until they saw Twitter.'
59 characters: you can even include two http:// links, to both his (non-existing) early blog post saying that, and to a post by one of his employees saying how technology wouldn't allow it.

That's a pretty telling comment from Mr. Page. I'm not surprised. This will be a fun ride.

    Thanks,

I personally think they are really starting to shit themselves at google about Twitter. Nobody has come this close to jumping in on their business model up until now. I think they have to take twitter out with an aquisition at any cost to preserve their dominance

To get a jump on real-time search (aka, social search) Google can also acquire a company like oneriot.com
  • sachxn · 7 months ago
Google will also do it soooon...

Google must be having internal "conversations" about what to do about Twitter. The only thing that might make them feel good is that Twitter is also having internal conversations -- about how to make money. Google has that one down.

Google is always thinking of building up, living upto the market standard. That is why they will be so hard to beat (for any company). But yes, Twitter showed us that there are still corners where you can make Google think seriously.

    I am happy about that.

Glad to know that. It would be great, if you could provide in detailed information about this particular event.

    Thanks

Okie.. lets Tweet ( I'm in the bathroom, I'm combing my hair, I'm brushing my teeth, I'm taking a c_ _ _ ) Opps I am out of Twitter Characters. The Internet is becoming an information cess-pool.

Larry should first focus on getting to know a decent stylist.
